Celebrated interior designer Nicole Hollis, named on 2021’s AD100 list, teamed up with architect Bob Hale, a partner at RIOS, to create an entertainer’s oasis in Thousand Oaks, California. Nestled at the foothills of the highest peaks of the Santa Monica mountains, this home makes the most of the views with expansive outdoor living and dining areas, as well as a covered porch and pool deck.
In what Hale describes as a “modern traditional house” and Hollis refers to as a “branch” — a nod to the barn-ranch hybrid — the property’s design sits at the intersection of contemporary and classic.

Aegean Limestone was the star material of the project and was utilized throughout the design, from the pool to the breezeway, to the chimney columns and pizza oven. Different finishes were employed throughout the multi-wing home, from the honed interior stone to the flamed exterior.
“Nicole Hollis is such a powerhouse,” Maiden Stone’s founder Sandra Jonas Desguin said. “This is such a special project to me personally because it launched a lot of opportunities and opened up a lot of doors for future collaborative partnerships with Maiden Stone.”
Completed in 2017, the 3.5 acre property is a stunning example of what dreams can be realized in stone when you assemble a team of world-class talent.
